ISO 27001 is the international standard that describes best practices for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). Based on the dramatic increase in cyber-attacks worldwide, and the Macau Cyber Security Law has been effective, ICTO initiated a project to certify ISO 27001 standard with Data Center services. This project was started in September 2019, and targeted to be completed by August 2020.
By achieving certification of ISO 27001, our University will be able to reap numerous benefits including:
- Recognition of UM’s achievements in cyber security area since ISO 27001 is the internationally recognized standard.
- Reducing cyber security breaches, and protecting our University’s reputation through optimizing the daily operations.
However, people are the most critical factor in achieving Information Security. It is recognized that the technological safeguard is not enough if users do not understand their responsibilities towards information security.
Therefore, ICTO is responsible to help each member of our University to enhance information security awareness through different channels:
