In response to the development of the University and the needs of UM staff and students, ICTO continually provides different IT systems and services. Some developers of legacy systems have announced the end of support of the products and the lack of subsequent security updates. To eliminate security risks, ICTO started to review those systems earlier in 2022 to migrate and phase out the following services:

    • Add-Value Machine (AVM) – was decommissioned on 31 March 2022.

E-purse service was officially terminated with effect from the academic year 2022/2023.

    • UNIX System Service – was decommissioned on 1 December 2022

The UM@Connect Student Email Server has gradually replaced the Legacy Student Email Service (https://studmail.um.edu.mo) provided by UNIX System since 2016, and it has been completed in 2022. The UNIX environment for research is migrated to HPCC.

    • HPCC Jade (High-Performance Computing Cluster) – was decommissioned on 30 November 2022

Jade is an earlier version of HPCC. The HPCC, Coral has replaced this legacy service.

    • Personal web and WebShare Services – was decommissioned on 1 December 2022

The personal web Services are migrated to the departmental website. WebShare platform was built on SharePoint 2007 and it was out of support for over a year. Those documents that are still being used have been migrated to ShareDM after directly contacting the relevant units.
