Email is one of the popular cyber-attack media used by cybercriminals. Email-related systems are always the target of attacks. Our SMTP system is also experiencing password brute-force and spraying attack every day.
To enhance the security level of SMTP service and protect users’ accounts, SMTP service access is limited to within campus intranet from 1 December 2022.
Since the restriction is placed, sending emails from Gmail or other webmail services through our SMTP system as userid@um.edu.mo is not supported.
The adjustment does not affect UM Outlook and Webmail users. Also, the program, script or mail client running on the machine connected to the intranet or SSLVPN is not affected.
