Status
Since 18 August 2022, the wireless service in staff quarters is intermittently unstable, affecting online teaching and daily life.
Based on the feedback of the residents and the in-depth investigation, it was found that there is a wide range of external wireless channel interference or occupancy in the seaside staff quarter units. The investigation revealed that the interference intensity of the 5 GHz wireless channel is relatively low. Starting from October 2022, UM_SECURED_WLAN_5G wireless SSID has been gradually installed in the staff quarters to enhance the stability of the connection. In the meantime, the relevant situation has been reported to the government department for further investigation.
The University has learned more about the overall situation of campus network and is working on improvements. We started upgrading existing wireless network access point (AP) in December 2022 and added an additional AP for 2- or 3-bedroom units in S29 and S31 to improve signal coverage. Improvements in other staff quarter units will continue and the schedule is as follows:
