Keeping our campus safe starts with each of us. Here are some simple, practical tips to help protect our data and stay secure:

 🔐 1. Handling Sensitive Information

  • Keep It Safe: Always secure confidential data, especially when working off-campus.
  • Clean Up: Delete sensitive files promptly once they are no longer needed.
  • Skip Public Wi-Fi: Avoid using public networks when handling private information.

📧 2. Sending Mass Emails? Think Twice!

  • Double-Check Everything: Make sure recipients, content, and attachments are correct before hitting send.
  • Use BCC: Protect people’s privacy by using “Blind Carbon Copy” for large email groups.
  • Watch for Phishing: Be alert to emails that seem suspicious or ask for personal info.

🎭 3. Spotting Online Scams & Deepfakes

  • Trust Your Eyes & Ears: Look out for strange movements, mismatched audio, or anything that feels off in videos.
  • Fact-Check: Always verify information with trusted sources.
  • Pause on Urgency: If someone asks for money or urgent help, confirm it through another channel.
  • Ignore Unknown Callers: DO NOT answer calls from numbers or names you DO NOT recognise.

🛡️ 4. Your Role in Campus Security

  • Protect Our Systems: Avoid anything that could harm our network or data.
  • Follow the Rules: DO NOT disable or bypass security settings.
  • Use Legal Software: Only install licensed programs.
  • Lock Down Your Passwords: Use strong, unique passwords and turn on two-factor authentication.
  • Stay Compliant: Follow UM policies and Macau’s laws on information security.
