From Sep to Dec 2019, ICTO has organized following events and trainings.

In 23-25 September 2019, ICTO co-organized the workshop “Network Security Workshop” with APNIC for the community of Macao and the nearby region.    Network security is a popular and essential topic in every organization, institute and company nowadays. Taking this opportunity, we can equip our staff with important knowledge and international standard on network security. Meanwhile, UM can assist in promoting and raising the awareness of network security to the local community and nearby region.

On 25 September 2019, 1st SUFG meeting of Academic Year 2019/2020 was held.

In the meeting, ICTO’s representatives shared the following information:

  • User Satisfaction Survey on ICTO Services
  • Preparation for Academic Year 2019/2020
  • Launch of 17th Issue of ICTO Newsletter
  • Upgrade of UMMoodle, Community & ePortfolio
  • Introduction of Student Information App (SIAPP)
  • Introduction of the MacauPass printing & copying services
  • Launch of Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Service
  • Information Security Updates

Student representatives provided feedback on Academic Computing Facilities. ICTO staff provided instant responses on the concerns and appreciated the positive feedback.

To cope with the implications related to “Cyber Security Law” that is going to be implemented in the Macao SAR. ICTO co-organized the lecture “Introduction to Security Incident Response Teams” with the Asia Pacific Network Information Centre (APNIC) on 26 September 2019.  25 senior government officers from Macao SAR and 11 IT staff members of UM joined the lecture.

Lecture was intended to strengthen the attendee’s knowledge and skill in handling and responding to computer security incidents.

  • Implementing Cyber Security
  • Types of Security Incidents
  • Security Incident Response Services Framework, Policies, Tools and SLAs


To introduce to administrative users the system of ‘Identity and Access Management (ACM)’ and ‘UM Resource Booking System – General User’, ICTO-IMS organized two briefing sessions on 4 October 2019.

For Identity and Access Management (ACM), topics included:

  • Introduction the concept of Enterprise Groups
  • Review group privileges
  • Demonstration

UM Resource Booking System – General User

Following topics were included:

  • Getting Started with ‘UM Resource Booking System’
  • Introduce the application flow
  • Filter different Resource types
  • Make a new reservation – Update / delete my reservation
  • View my reservation

ICTO hosted three UMMoodle workshops from September to November. Workshop contents covered the topics of interest to let the teaching staff be more familiar with the new version of UMMoodle when using Quiz activity on UMMoodle and GradeBook on UMMoodle.

In order to let more users be familiar with two new services “Virtual Desktop” and “UMDrive”, two briefings were held on 20 November 2019.

For Virtual Desktop, topics included:

  • How to access from web client, desktop client and mobile APP
  • Transferring Files Between the Client and a Remote Desktop
  • How it can help for daily operation

For UMDrive, topics included:

  • Install and use UMDrive web client, desktop client and mobile APP
  • Internal share and external share
  • How it can help for daily operation
  • Setup department shared library and configure access right
