To ensure the Information Security of the University, ICTO optimizes user permissions and protection for removable devices for administrative staff starting from March 2024.
User Permission Optimization
To prevent staff from installing unauthorized software and reduce security vulnerabilities and data leakage caused by malicious software and change of system settings, ICTO adjusted staff computer permissions to standard user level.
Protection for Removable Devices
To prevent sensitive data leakage, staff are required to encrypt removable devices in order to obtain write permissions. Otherwise, the removable devices can be used for reading data only. Alternatively, staff can use UMDrive as data storage for file sharing.
Project Status
ICTO is implementing the Information Security measures on ICTO computers of administrative staff (Completion Rate: 80%). ICTO will communicate closely with staff members and complete the tasks on remaining computers in the coming months.
