“NVIDIA Summit” of AI for Efficient Research 2024 was held on 14 June 2024. There were over 50 audiences from different faculties to attend the seminar.

During the seminar, NVIDIA gave a very comprehensive and valuable insights on the following aspects: AI trends, GROMACS containers, and the NVIDIA HPC SDK for efficiently doing research.

In order to let colleagues know more about the intermediate and advanced features of Microsoft Excel 2021, ICTO collaborated with HRS to organize training courses in June 2024. Two courses were held at ICTO computer rooms and taught by CPTTM appointed instructor. The intermediate and advanced Excel features help colleagues become more productive and efficient in daily work.

Prof. Chen Wenzhi, the director of Information Technology Center of Zhejiang University visited ICTO on 30 May 2024. Prof. Chen visited our service counter at E6 Learning Commons, Computer Rooms, Help Desk and Data Center. Both of us had in-depth discussions on the development of online teaching and learning, the campus IT infrastructure and computing facilities.

ICTO arranged a visit to the Cybersecurity Incident Alert and Response Centre (CARIC) on 17 May 2024. The visit was received by the leaders of the center, who introduced the center’s responsibilities, professional facilities and equipment, daily operations, as well as the network security maintenance tasks, and conducted active discussion on cyber security techniques with our UM staff. Through this visit, it can enhance the cybersecurity awareness and concern of our staff, and it is expected to further promote cybersecurity education on campus, and enhance the cybersecurity awareness and crime prevention capabilities of staff members and students.

The UM staff participated in this visit include ICTO staff, members of information security team and members of Academic IT Support Advisory Group (AITSAG).

Meeting Updates

The regular meeting with IT support staff from various academic units and ICTO, Academic IT Support Advisory Group (AITSAG) meeting was held on 30 April 2024.

In the meeting, ICTO’s representatives shared the following topics and responded to the enquiries from AITSAG members:

  • Campus Network Update
  • Tentative Schedule of Annual Drill on Data Center UPS System
  • Arrangement about Setup of New PC Data Recovery, Implementation of Information Security Measures and Desktop Upgrade
  • Current Macau Pass Printing Service
