ICTO has completed the major upgrade of wireless access points (WAPs) across campus:

  • Residential Colleges: All WAPs now support the Wi-Fi 7 standard, offering faster speeds and improved connectivity.
  • Lecture Halls & Multi-Function Rooms: 13 large venues (with seating capacity over 100) have been equipped with high-performance WAPs to deliver a better user experience.

Additionally, new outdoor WAPs are being installed in the E2 Library Plaza and Campus North area to expand wireless coverage.

To ensure seamless IT services between the HengQin Teaching Center (HQTC) and the UM Main Campus, ICTO has implemented an International Private Leased Circuit (IPLC). This connection enables:

  • Wi-Fi user authentication
  • IP Phone services
  • Access to UMMoodle
  • Full access to UM internal resources from HQTC

To optimise bandwidth usage, ICTO has introduced an Internet Access Management System guided by the following principles:

  • Academic Priority: Teaching, research, and administrative activities are prioritised.
  • Fair Usage: Bandwidth is allocated based on essential needs.
  • Tiered Management: Network applications are managed with differentiated strategies.
  • Resource Optimisation: Technology and management practices maximise bandwidth efficiency.
  • Security and Compliance: Network safety and legal compliance are ensured.
